pengantin: (origin – Malay; noun) bride or bridegroom 

pelik: (origin – Malay; adjective) odd, difficult, abnormal (according to this site)

pengantin pelik: (origin – my mother’s comment; phrasal noun) odd, abnormal and hence can-be-difficult bride (to-be)

 

To add to the Ps, I am also petite and I plan to be prudent in spending for my wedding, which is why it would be not-so-conventional by typical Malay wedding standards. I hope you enjoy following me in my journey! 😀
